A Drive By Shooting

Today on my way to Germantown, PA (a section of Philadelphia) to see a my cousin Bill’s one man show Billosophy:Life-Circus-Death.  I had planned on taking plenty of pictures of the show but my silly self left the battery for my camera home still in the charger.

His show will be going on next weekend as well so he arranged for me to take behind the scene pictures.  So sometimes when things are going wrong it actually works in your favor.

On the ride there I was fortunate to be a passenger.  I am never the passenger always the designated driver.

Taking of advantage of this I started clicking away at everything with my cell.  The pictures are not great by any means but they will give you a glimpse of what Philadelphia has to offer besides the obvious.

Philly is famous for a lot of things.  One of them is Mural and Graffiti Art.  This is something that I like to look at while there.  Here is just a small sampling of the art on Broad Street.

Brotherly Love….

So So Upset

I went to Philadelphia with my cousin Michael to take some pictures on a rooftop of an abandoned school.  I learned some new things about settings for night shots.  I took well over 100 pictures of the graffiti, sunset, city Hall, and the skyline.

Everything looked great in camera.

I get home eat something really quick and get ready to do some editing.  When I insert the card into my tablet nothing happens.  It tells me there is an issue with the card.  So I try the laptop and same thing happens.  I put the card back in the camera and it now gives me an error message and says that the data base is corrupt and needs to fix.  I said OK.  I feel like an idiot now I have NOTHING at all.  It is all wiped out, just vanished!

My only tangible memory of the evening is 3 pictures I took with my cell phone (no edits).

Mother Nature Doing What She Does…

June 23, 2015 between 6:00 and 6:30pm a few quick and destructive tornadoes hit southern New Jersey.  Luckily when they touched down I was still at work and only saw the lights inside the building flickering.  At this time I still did not know that the weather alert was correct and actually happening.

When I got off at 6:30pm it was still a lot of lightning and thunder and the rain had turned to just a drizzle.  Driving down 295S it was pretty much the same as any other rainy day, nothing out of the ordinary.  It all changed once I picked up my grandson from daycare.  The owner, Tosha, said that a tornado came down very close to the daycare and they had to hide in the basement.

As I was driving home you can pretty much see one of the paths of destruction, tree tops ripped off and yanked out of the ground by the roots.  It was amazing and scary at the same time to see the devastation that Mother Nature can do in a very short period of time.   (Where is my camera!)

I made it safe and sound to a home that had no electricity.  So I spent two nights at my mother’s home.

Per different reports over 250,000 people in the southern New Jersey/Philadelphia area were out of service.  It finally ame back on today.

Serenity

Serenity….. this little place in the woods was created for the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show.  I do not remember what the scene was dedicated to.  I loved how it was a little place in the woods that one could go and regroup ones thoughts and to surrender the burdens of doubt that have been placed on one’s mind and shoulders.

Even in this crowded convention center you could feel the calmness of this little house in the woods.  I have chosen to call it Serenity House.  All of the colorful flowers and smells that filled the air were so refreshing.

Do you have a Serenity House (or place) that you like to go to when you are feeling overwhelmed with things?  If you don’t mind please share in the comments or add a link to your site that shows your Serenity House (or place).

WP Photo Challene: Wall (2)

My second entry into the WP Photo challenge: Wall

Row of yellow flowers in the background are resembling a wall.  The flower wall makes the lantern stand out amongst all the colorful flowers.
