Raindrops are falling on my head 16/30

Well not exactly.

We have been under a heat wave the last few days here in New Jersey.  Humidity has been almost unbearable and today we ae getting some relief from some much-needed rain.

In the late afternoon the rain finally began coming down.  So what does one do when it rains?  We get the camera out and start clicking away.

I put a piece of plexiglass covered with a tinted film on the top landing of the step and just waited for the rain to come.  The pictures did not come out great. Still working on settings out of auto mode.

Snow Dancer

Today we expect to get 1-2 inches of snow before it turns to rain.

On my first break of the day I took a picture of some snow flakes resting or dancing on my car.

Using my wildly vivid imagination I see this ice as an ice skater holding up another skater.  Can you see it?  Or am I really out in left field this time?

First Snow

Today here in New Jersey we are having to our first snowfall of 2016.

It is only supposed to be lite dusting, which I sincerly hope is correct.

70° and Counting

Today and tomorrow the weather folks think that we will have record-breaking temperatures for December.  Today it reached 70 and tomorrow it is expected to reach 72.

I am celebrating this warm weather by sharing some pictures from this past summer.

I know I should not celebrate all this potential record-breaking weather this winter because at some point we will pay the price.

Snow Snow and more Snow

Not really but we are prepared.

The landscapers at my job are gearing up for the coming snow (not any time soon I hope). The sand/salt mixture and some of the machinery has been deliveried and it is ready and waiting for snow.   I hope they have a long wait.

The weather is not showing signs that the beginning of winter is just a few days away. Today’s temperature is 58°F, which is warm considering the time of year for New Jersey weather.

For those that doubt, global warming is real.

Sitting in my car on my lunch break enjoying the pre-hurricane Joaquin rain.

As of todays report hurricane Joaquin is not expected to hit the US but we will still feel the effects of it.

It is supposed to rain intermittently through Sunday.

Looks like a video weekend is ahead.

Before the Storm

Today was another humid day and we knew that the rain was coming soon.  On my lunch break about 30 minute before the storm began I took some pictures of the sky.

The rain only lasted about 45 minutes and it reduced the humidity just a bit.

Mother Nature Doing What She Does…

June 23, 2015 between 6:00 and 6:30pm a few quick and destructive tornadoes hit southern New Jersey.  Luckily when they touched down I was still at work and only saw the lights inside the building flickering.  At this time I still did not know that the weather alert was correct and actually happening.

When I got off at 6:30pm it was still a lot of lightning and thunder and the rain had turned to just a drizzle.  Driving down 295S it was pretty much the same as any other rainy day, nothing out of the ordinary.  It all changed once I picked up my grandson from daycare.  The owner, Tosha, said that a tornado came down very close to the daycare and they had to hide in the basement.

As I was driving home you can pretty much see one of the paths of destruction, tree tops ripped off and yanked out of the ground by the roots.  It was amazing and scary at the same time to see the devastation that Mother Nature can do in a very short period of time.   (Where is my camera!)

I made it safe and sound to a home that had no electricity.  So I spent two nights at my mother’s home.

Per different reports over 250,000 people in the southern New Jersey/Philadelphia area were out of service.  It finally ame back on today.

A Blissful Moment

Photo 101 Assignment #4: Bliss

We finally got some “real” snow here in NJ.  Most of the business and schools were closed today except for my daughters job.  Since I was off and Arai did not have school I had the pleasure of having him for the day.  This young man is a handful and a half.  The only time he is still is when he is sleep and you have to fight him for that.

I decided to take him out and let him experience some snow.  Mom-mom could not find his gloves so I put a pair of socks on his hands to keep them a little dry.  How happy he was.

The Fantasy is Over

Two days ago I posted that I was happy to have 70 degree weather in November. Well folks the fantasy is over, as we have our first snow here in New Jersey.

The weather folks said that it would be a rain and snow mix,  which it was then it turned to just snow.  And it is sticking to the ground and cars!

I guess Mother Nature said it was time.
