A Photo of the Week Challenge:

This view is one of my favorites. It was taken August 14, 2014 while on vacation in Outer Bank, NC.

My father and I would get up about 5:30am every morning (this is the only time I get up that early) to watch the sunrise.

On that lucky day I was able to catch this shot.

We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise last but a few minutes. But its beauty can burn in our hearts eternally.“– R. A. Salvatore

Winter Lace

What better time is there then January 1, 2019 to pick up the camera again.

Winter Lace is for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.

Smile

Today I had a few trees cut down and in the pile I find 2 unlikely images, a heart and what looks like 2 eyes (to me anyway) on the side of a log. When I put them together it looks like it is smiling.

I will be getting a straw hat for it and placing it in my flowerbed somewhere.

Photo of the Day – Trichomes

In response to this weeks Daily Post Photo Challenge – prolific, I have chosen to share the hairs on a Poppy flower bud.  The botanical name for the “hair” is trichomes.

In a few days it will open and share with us it’s full beauty like the others that have already bloomed.

He’d Rather Be….

My grandson, Arai, has been a bit under the weather the last couple of days with a cold and asthma acting up again.  Instead of him resting like his mother said, he’d rather be out in the snow with me taking pictures.  He did not care that he had his pajama shorts on and his shoes on the wrong feet he was determined that he was going out.

I had to convince him that if he was better tomorrow we will go out and play in the snow.

We are experiencing a winter wonderland. The new says that it could be as much as 12 inches.

Camden

Today I had to take care of some business and needed to go to Camden, New Jersey.  When I finished, I took a little ride to a park where I photographed this water tower with the city name on it “Camden”.

I researched the city name and found out there are 23 other towns/cities in the United States, 3 in New Zealand, 1 in South Africa, United Kingdom, Bermuda and Australia with the name of Camden .    In total the are 30 towns/cities with the name Camden across this big world of ours.

I am entering this into this week’s Daily Post Challenge as I would rather be exploring Camden in another state or country to see how the are the same or different from Camden,  New Jersey.

What Would You Ask??

For the past 10 years (or more) I have been working on a book called “Reflections for My Soul”.  This book shows the emotions that I experienced while dealing with a Stage 1 Breast Cancer diagnosis at the age of 34 and then again at 37 and how I was able to save my “soul/sanity” through photography.  This blog was created to go along with the book.

I finished the book so many times and I never seem to be able to move forward to the publishing phase.  It never seemed “good enough”, or it was  “too sad” or “pictures aren’t perfect”.  There was always a reason as to why it did not truly get finished.

I have vowed that I will be publishing “Reflections for My Soul”  no later that January 2018.  In order for me to keep this vow I need your help.  You ask how can you help? Well that is easy.  What I need are questions that you would ask or were hesitant to ask a person going through and surviving a health threat.  No question is to invasive or irrelevant.

“Reflections for My Soul” will not be a pity party type of book but one that shows how I saved my soul/sanity through photography.

Once I get your questions I will answer them within my story and hopefully have one or two of you to review it and give me your opinion on things to change or to let me know it works.

Please bring on the questions!

As always thank you for visiting!

ps I hope you like my experiment into still life.

A Meeting At the Watering Hole

At my mother’s house she has a bird bath and everyday the bird bath is full of bees.

There is nothing pedestrian about this scene.  The bees move in such an excited frenzy.

Waiting…..

….for the school bus.

Today is the first day of Pre-K for Arai.  We we so excited for him to go to the “big kids” school.  I think we were more excited than he was.

It seemed to take forever for the bus to get here.

I was so happy to see him begin the next chapter in his life that I forgot to take pictures of him getting on the bus.  Guess I will have to wait till next year!

Treescape

I photographed this image the other day when I was at the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge.  I like how the jagged wood in the center of the tree resembles a cityscape.  To me it looks like tall buildings.
