Frogs Aplenty

While checking out the garden and seeing the devastation that the groundhog did, i noticed a bunch of black things hopping around.

Initially I thought they were crickets but on closer inspection I see it is a bunch of baby frogs!

Have you seen anything interesting lately?

They Did It!

The squirrels have done it now!   They have climbed up a narrow pole, as if they are tight rope walkers, for a while now to feast on the birds food. Today one of them broke the feeder…

Now I need to find another one that they can’t break and figure out what I can get for them so that they can leave the bird feeders for the birds.

It Has Begun

As some of you may recall, I like to do DIY projects.

Last year I built a deck with 4 post attached with future plans to but a pergola on it.  Well the time has come, it now has a top.

Built July 2019
It still needs some more slats added to it…but its a pergula!

This was done Saturday.

While the guys were working on the deck I was busy making an outdoor sofa.

That’s my sister-in-law making use of the sofa already.

I learned several things. The most important ones are that I can do anything I set my mind too and that I can not cut straight lines with a hand saw. So I was in need of a new toy….

I am hoping to break this in today. Got a bit of reading to do first on proper usage…. then look out!😀

Red-bellied Woodpecker

It was a bit hard to get a really good shot of this Woodpecker, he was very flighty and fast.

Here is some information on the Red-bellied Woodpecker

Imagination

I have a wood pile for my summer projects and on this particular day I watched Arai used his imagination to create a see-saw.

Hanging by a Nail

Squirrels are strong creatures.  This common Eastern Gray Squirrel is hanging upside down on my bird feeder only by his/her toe.

I was able to sit approximately 8 feet from them just watch  squirrels climbing up and down the feeder.   They are fascinating and at times annoying creatures.

Framed by Nature

I was once again snapping some pics of birds on the feeder when I noticed something moving in the trees.

I looked up I see this beauty….

…she was just browsing in the trees.

A Bit of Bird watching Today

I hope that you all are well!

It’s been a while since my last post, not sure where the time went.

I did a little bit of bird watching today.

Hummingbird
What you looking at!?

Finally

I have been a bit remiss in my postings. But I wanted to make sure that a post on my luffa gourds went up today.

They were picked at the end of October just before the first frost hit. The luffas where no where near ready to be peeled until now.

This is the first one that I cleaned. Out of the 13 that I had only 7 made it. The others rotted.

Here they are getting a quick bleach bath to rid them of any possible bacteria.

Two more that are not ready to be peeled. Hopefully in another week I can clean them up too.

Most of these will be cut up into small pieces to use in my new hobby of soap making.

As always thank you for visiting!
