“Gratitude is the Heart’s Memory”

Some of you may know by reading my previous post, Underrated Duty, that I am working towards getting back to “happy” on a more consistent basis. Today I read the following quote and thought I would share it with all of you:

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” by Melody Beattie Simple Abundance

When I say getting back to “happy” I don’t don’t mean laughing and joking all the time, but more about inner peace. So many negative things float around in my head and some are on instant replay. I can’t seem to change that montra on my own. So looking at other options to achieve my new goal.

According to the book, Simple Abundance, one of the steps that the writer recommends doing is to keep a graditude journal. In this journal you are to write at least 5 things that you are thankful for. You would even do this on this bad days….especially the bad days.

Do you or have you ever done a graditude journal?

In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization.

When you get the shot!

My grandson Arai
does not like when i make his pictures black and white, he thinks it makes him look old.

This was at my daughters house and he was surprised that he  captured a shot of her dog,  Dash.

The Underrated Duty

“There is no duty we so much underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.”~by Robert Louis Stevenson

I read this in Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. It made me think “am I happy” or “do I just have happy moments?” I believe that I have happy moments but contentment is probably where I am at most of the time.

A piece of Happiness

I will continue to read this book daily to work on me getting back to happy as a norm instead of a moment at a time.

How about you, are you content or happy?

I don’t know why but I call these high tension poles “Iron Maidens”.

Do you have a name for them?

When the Bough Breaks

Well not actual the bough but a pipe in my back yard. No major disaster issue will get fixed in the spring when the ground is not frozen.

Love the art the water created on the fence.

Mind Over Matter

The temperatures here in New Jersey are well below freezing and have been for a couple of days.

The temperature when I took this photo was 16°F and dropping. This young man has a strong mind since the cold does not seem to matter to him.

I can successfully do mind over matter with most things execpt the cold… just looking at him with shorts on made me feel even cooler than I already felt.
