Great photos. It’s most likely a male Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina).

Those are little killers. š Funny, the ones we see here are emerald green. Not a spot. Probably to mimetize against the environment.

Killers they ate especially the females. We’r do have green ones here but for some reason only these brown ones seen too like my yard.

It may depend on the colours that predominate in your yard. Maybe they can escape predators easier depending on the colour of the background.
