“Gratitude is the Heart’s Memory”

Some of you may know by reading my previous post, Underrated Duty, that I am working towards getting back to “happy” on a more consistent basis. Today I read the following quote and thought I would share it with all of you:

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” by Melody Beattie Simple Abundance

When I say getting back to “happy” I don’t don’t mean laughing and joking all the time, but more about inner peace. So many negative things float around in my head and some are on instant replay. I can’t seem to change that montra on my own. So looking at other options to achieve my new goal.

According to the book, Simple Abundance, one of the steps that the writer recommends doing is to keep a graditude journal. In this journal you are to write at least 5 things that you are thankful for. You would even do this on this bad days….especially the bad days.

Do you or have you ever done a graditude journal?

In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Gratitude is such an important thing, it really does make you happy when you think of all there is to be thankful for! I keep a journal, not specifically a gratitude journal but I have recorded things to be thankful for in it many times and it always helps to go and look back at it, so I do recommend it! Wishing you the best!!
