7 Days of Nature Challenge (6/7)

Mother Nature has thrown a tantrum

The calendar says that spring arrived on March 20 which was twenty days ago.  Now Mother Nature must not like us telling her when to start Spring so she had to let us know that she was was not finished with winter yet.  She blanketed part of the north-east United Sates with varying degrees of snow.

Here in NJ we got a bit more than a dusting but not too bad compared to what some got out in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Here are some pictures from my part of the world.

When will Spring actually arrive?

A Camera Imitates

While checking out pictures on Instagram I came across this quote on simplescenesimagery page:

Camera

Focus on what’s important

Capture the good times

Develop from the negatives

And if things don’t work out

Take another shot!

I thought this was a perfect way to see things.  Sometimes when we break things down they make more seems.

WP PHOTO CHALLENGE: (EXTRA) ORDINARY

I believe that butterflies are extraordinary creatures.  They begin their life as a caterpillar, once they reach a certain weight and length they enclose themselves in a Pupa or Chrysalis.  Depending on the breed they can be in the pupa for a few days or as long as a winter season.

But when they finally emerge, it is the image of beauty and grace.

Ordinary?

Ordinary or Extraordinary?

Perhaps the butterfly is proof

that you can go through a great deal of

darkness and yet come out…..

I am at it again, converting an image to black and white.  This time I posted three images and would like to know which you prefer.

I am leaning towards version one.  The back and white is at a very closed second.

Starlight Blogger Award

I was awarded the Starlight Blogger Award back in July by Gale over at Living Life Day by Day“.   I do have a tendency to procrastinate when I do not have a deadline but eventually it gets done.  I did not intend to take this long however.

Starlight Blogger Award

The Starlight Blogger Award was created to highlight and promote inspirational bloggers and their blogs by NickysdayWithAutism.

There are a few basic rules:
  • Thank the person that nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 3 questions that are given to you.
  • Pass the award on to 6 or more other bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated.
  • Include the logo of the award on your blog, please never alter the logo and never change the rules.
Here are the questions that Gale asked of the people she nominated:

  1. What was the most life changing moment in your life?
  2. How did someone unexpectedly help you just when you desperately needed it most?
  3. Where do you find your inspiration to write?
My answers:
  1. I actually have 2 life changing moments and they were both when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  This was devastating to say the least.  I am not going to dwell on the negative emotions that were engulfing me at the time but I will celebrate the joy/pleasure that came out of it.  Photography is one of the things that I discovered and it became my escape from the negativity that I was feeling.  It also, over time, made me realize just how strong I really was.  I am now 12 years free of cancer.
  2. How did someone help me when I needed help?  This is a bit difficult since I rarely share my bad times with other.  But I will have to say my cousin Nikki help more with her words of encouragement when it was needed most.
  3. I am altering this slightly to what is my inspiration for photography.  Life around me is my inspiration.  Every moment is an opportunity to capture moments to reflect on later.

My 3 questions for all that wish to participate:

  1. Why did you become a blogger?
  2. Outside of your family and friends what inspires you to continue to move forward?
  3. If you we granted one wish to do something over what would it be?

Make sure you send a link to my page so that I can review your responses.

Thanks in advance to all that participate.

OBX Sunrise

OBX Sunrise-My dad and Ebony enjoying the sunrise and a stroll in the ocean.

Free to be

This little girl did not care that I was watching the sunrise and taking pictures.  She just wanted to run and play in the ocean.

As an adult most of us aren’t going to lose our adult mindset and run free when there is a camera in the very near vicinity.   I know I am not.  That is one of the things that I miss about being a kid.

A child does not have all of those self-imposed constraints on them.   Their mind is free to do what they want without worry about what others may say.

This little girl truly enjoyed the sunrise.

Free to be!

Wanna Be Happy?

Driving into work today I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show and I had the pleasure of being introduced to this new song by Kirk Franklin, Wanna Be Happy.

This song hit a nerve within me in a good way.  It told me to get out of my way and let God do his thing. This song touched me.

Please hit play and I hope you enjoy Wanna Be Happy as well.
