Lurking Turkey

My garden needed some upgrades, a much higher gate and a much higher fence. Over the weekend a friend and I fixed the situation. Next is to paint it and get some stone to keep the door looking nice not so muddy.

It seems like we fixed the fence and gate just in time to keep a lurking Turkey out of the garden… at least for now.

Arai noticed the Turkey hanging just behind the new fencing. It appears that she was sizing it up.

I am glad that she decided to move on. Once she realizes she can easily fly into it game over for my little garden.

On my post from yesterday, I mentioned how I have not cut the grass by the garden since last summer. You can see just how wild the grass and bushes have gotten.

A Patriotic Turkey

The other day as I pulled into my yard I saw 3 female turkeys and this big old male strutting through my yard.  The females were harder to capture as the kept darting off towards the woods every step I took in their direction them.  But this big old Tom Turkey took his sweet time.  Although he could hear me walking towards him he never moved faster, he just kept showing off his tail feathers and moving with purpose (so it seemed) towards the woods.  His face and neck were red, white and blue hence why I call him a Patriotic Turkey.

Today is Memorial Day here in the USA and I thought it fitting to share my Patriotic Turkey.

My neighbor is a Turkey?

Since I moved into my home the house next door has been vacant.  Periodically someone would come around and cut the grass but I have yet to meet them.

While washing dishes tonight I noticed some movement on the side and back of the house.  Of course I had to inspect and see what is going on.

As I step outside with camera in hand I see them just tasting the grass and check out the house.  It looks like they were debating on whether it would be a good fit for their family.

Time will tell if they decide o take over the house.

We tease her all the time by saying that she needs to live on a farm.
