What does home mean to me?
I did not do to well with the WP Blogging 101 course but with this new course, WP Photo 101 I think I will do really well. My only issue is the daily posting. I hope I can deliver.
For our first assignment we need to show what home is or means to us. This was a bit difficult at first but after some thought the place that I feel most at home (besides mom’s house) is Arizona.
There is sun, sun and more sun with lots of heat. I am longing for some heat right about now. The desert was very calming and relaxing to me. It gave me a sense of peace which was so desperately needed.
I can’t wait for the time that I can move back or at least go for a long visit.
Prior to moving to Arizona I mainly wanted to go just because of the weather. After I went there for a vacation and to visit family I fell in love with the desert. Who would have ever thought that the desert could be beautiful?!

WP Photo Challenge: Symmetry
I decided to work with Photo Shop Elements 12 to create my Symmetric image for this week WP Photo Challenge: Symmetry.
Photo taken on the waiting deck at the Cape May Lewes Ferry station in Cape May New Jersey September 2008.

What Once Was…
Throwback Thursday
The SS Atlantus was built in 1918 and served 2 years transporting troops after Wold War I from Europe back to the states and coal to Europe. After only 2 years of service she was retired to a salvage yard located Virginia in 1920. SS Atlantus came out of retirement in 1926 and brought to NJ to create a new ferry service in Cape May NJ (her legacy continues with the Cape May Lewes Ferry).
Unfortunately a storm hit and the ship ran aground about 150 feet from shore and after many attempts to free her they were not able to free the SS Atlantus. She was damaged and sunk.
The picture below is all that remains.
One of the interesting facts is that the SS Atlantus is made of concrete. How does a concrete ship float?

New Brooklyn Lake
New Brooklyn Lake this picture was taken about 8 years ago. The lake does not look like this anymore. Tomorrow I will get an updated picture of the lake as long as weather permits.

Dueling Birds?
A few pictures of Cranes (I think) from a visit back in 2010 to the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge
In the first picture it looks like they are getting ready for a duel.

Reflections
This photo was taken in July of 2011 at New Brooklyn Lake Park, I like it because the reflected sky is bluer then the actual sky.
I hope you like it too!
