Art of Observation
To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

Wave Conqueror
My family vacation started Saturday and this year I decided to be adventurous and bring my grandson, Arai. Having a 4-year-old in a 7 hour car ride is enough to drive most people insane. Somehow we both managed to survive and made it safely to OBX, Outer Banks North Carolina.
Arai had the pleasure of waking up at 5:30 am yesterday morning to go see the sunrise with me and Pop-pop. He was amazed. Although this was not the best view of a sunrise since 75% of the sun was covered by clouds, which Arai thought was a mountain.
I let him get his feet wet in the ocean but he had other plans. When he was finished he was totally soaked from the waist down. In this picture I am not sure what he was thinking but if I had to guess it would be that he conquered the waves.

Bear Crossing 2
Last year I was told about the wild bears that are about an 45 minutes from where we are staying. When I took the pictures all looked great on my camera however, when I went to upload them I lost 90% of the pictures.
So I had to go back again this year to see if we can get lucky again. Luck was on our side, we saw 3 bears, a cub and 2 adult bears.
Unfortunately 1 of the adult bears was dead. It appeared to have been shot. If you look closely at the adult bear you will see that it appears have been shot. I notified the Animal Refuge agency the next day.

Free to be
This little girl did not care that I was watching the sunrise and taking pictures. She just wanted to run and play in the ocean.
As an adult most of us aren’t going to lose our adult mindset and run free when there is a camera in the very near vicinity. I know I am not. That is one of the things that I miss about being a kid.
A child does not have all of those self-imposed constraints on them. Their mind is free to do what they want without worry about what others may say.
This little girl truly enjoyed the sunrise.

Legs
My vacation is going great. Today we may go see the wild horses in Corolla.
In the meantime here is a picture of a little grasshopper who tried to hitch a ride to the beach with us yesterday.
