Mr. Pete and Arai

The area that I live in is fairly rural.  There are farms and a couple of horse ranches in my little town.  I have been telling Arai that we will top by one soon.  Well today is the day that we went to see the horses.  We went to the ranch that is about a mile from our home, Arai was so excited during our short little ride.

The owner of the Ranch is Mr. Pete.  Mr. Pete took time with Arai to explain a few things about horses, like how he should not approach a horse and how a horse sees (since eyes are on he side of the head).

Arai was excited and cautions at the same time.  Here are just a few of our moments.

The Adventure Begins – Arai and Mr. Pete

Mr. Pete was really nice and took the time to explain and answer his questions.  He even helped me.  I always thought that a pony was generic name for all young horses but I have been corrected.  A Pony is a type of horse, a foal is a baby horse one year or younger, a colt is a young male horse and a filly is a young female horse.

Another moment created for my grandson.

Before and After

As some of you may know I have recently began using Photoshop cc 2015, there is so much to learn and practice, I am not sure where to really start.  I also have Lightroom, Bridge and of course Camera Raw on my computer and Photoshop Express, Lighroom and Creative Cloud on my tablet and cell.

Working in Raw seems like you are creating more work for yourself.  I understand why it’s used so I am learning that too.  I never really took raw photos before but I am starting.

50 years young and still learning!  Glad my mind is still intact and capable of learning, hope the eyes stay sharp (with my glasses).

If any of you have suggestions on things I can do to a picture to improve it just let me know.  I am a person that learns well with direction.  I feel like I am all over the place with no clear focus.

If you like, I can even email you a picture so that I can see what you would do with it and attempt to recreate it.

Iron Ranch Stables

I have passed this horse ranch many times. Today I finally decided to stop in and see if I can take some pictures of these magnificent creatures.

A young woman that keeps her horse,Wilbur, on the ranch gave me permission to take some pictures.  Unfortunately I neglected to get her name.

She stated that Wilbur (brown horse) was a former race horse and he is about 3 years old. The white horse is about 18-20 years old.

This next horse Winnie belongs to the owner of the ranch.

All of the horses that I met today were very friendly and came right to the fence as I approached.

Come back tomorrow to see more pictures of the horses at Iron Ranch Stables.
