Flower of the Day 7/5/19

Sometimes what you’re most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

I am not sure what name this flower goes by, it was included in a packet of assorted wild flower seeds.

Can anyone identify this beauty?

Flower of the Day 7/2/19: Hot Fudge and Butter Cream

This flower bloomed yesterday. It was in a packet of mixed wildflower seeds I think it is so pretty.

Does anyone know what it is called?

This Common Thread Waisted Wasp was also enjoying this beautiful flower, although for very different reasons.

Bird on a a Wire

I hope you won’t mind all of my postings of Hummingbirds, it is so fascinating to watch them fly in and out.

Per Wikipedia…..“They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings which flap at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at rapid wing-flapping rates, which vary from around 12 beats per second in the largest species, to in excess of 80 in some of the smallest. Of those species that have been measured in wind tunnels, their top speed exceeds 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph) and some species can dive at speeds in excess of 22 m/s (79 km/h; 49 mph).

I noticed while watching this particular hummingbird that the red on his neck changes to black depending on how the light hits it or the way he moves his head.

I still have to figure out the best settings to get sharp images.

Flower of the Day 6/29/19

Out of 4 Mammouth Sunflowers planted this is the only one left in the garden.

Most of it’s leaves are missing, thanks to the rodents, but inspite of that it still shines brightly.

2 of 4

I finally captured a picture of 2 of the young groundhogs. There is still another young one and their mother.

The saga continues and I am sure they are playing with full bellies from my vegetables. I have faith that I will prevail in the end.

Birdhouse Gourd Flower

This is a flower on my Birdhouse gourd plants. Once the flower opens it only last for 1 day. Then it closes up and starts to turn brown.

I cannot wait to see the Birdhouse gourds begin to form. Hopefully it won’t take to long.

I found it!

I found the entry point of where the gopher/ groundhog has been entering my garden. For now I put some logs in the way and “hopefully” secured other weak spots in the fence until I can come up with a better way.

And yes….he ate more cabbage today. 🙄🤯
