Fruits of My Labor
On Friday I was able to harvest (I like saying harvest) my first string beans. Yesterday I used them for dinner.
In a pan of butter, I sauteed some onions, garlic and beef bouillon cubes then added a touch of water and my fresh string beans. The rest of the meal consisted of shrimp with alfredo sauce over fettuccine.
Harvest is a joyful time of gathering the produce of the land.

Cherry Pie
The weather is getting nicer here in New Jersey so I began working on my flowerbeds at the front of the house. I planted some double bloom Lilies, Azelas, Gerber Daisies, Pansies, and Hostas. I still need a few more things to make it just right for me.
After the rain yesterday I took some pictures of my newly planted flowers. The rain on this Gerber Daisy makes the center look like cherry pie. What do you think?

I Made It
Sunday was my 50th birthday. I made it. Due to some major health issues in the past I sometimes felt that I would not see 50. Due to science, doctors, and God, I made through and hope to see many more birthdays.
My children, son-in-law, nephews and sister-in-law (more like a sister) gathered at a local restaurant, Benihanas, to celebrate me turning half century.

My little helper
Snapping string beans with mom-mom.
My grandson wanted to help me prepare dinner for this evening.
I clipped the ends of the fresh stringbeans and he snapped them in half.
I thought that he would lose interest very fast but he was determined to snap away.
To my surprise he helped with the entire pot.
WP Photo Challenge: Dialogue
I posted these pictures of my nephew a few weeks ago and felt that they perfectly fit this weeks WP Photo Challenge: Dialogue. I hope you do not mind the re-post.
