Next Project
Since June 15th I have been working on another project, a deck with a trellis on top.
I completed the deck over the first weekend but was trying to find someone, at a reasonable price, to dig the holes and put in the post. the average price that I received was $250.00. I was not gonna pay that for 8 post (also need 4 for a fence).
So after trying to get my nephews to help out I decided to try and tackle it myself. I DID IT. It was not as hard as I thought it would be.
Due to cost of the wood I am not able to put up the trellis at this time. Instead I ordered a shade sail from Amazon that was suppose to be delivered today.
In all the years that I have ordered from Amazon this is the first time that I did not get my order by their stated date. I will post a picture once the shade sail finally gets here.
Thought for today: Conquer what intimidates you.

Lurking Turkey
My garden needed some upgrades, a much higher gate and a much higher fence. Over the weekend a friend and I fixed the situation. Next is to paint it and get some stone to keep the door looking nice not so muddy.
It seems like we fixed the fence and gate just in time to keep a lurking Turkey out of the garden… at least for now.
Arai noticed the Turkey hanging just behind the new fencing. It appears that she was sizing it up.
I am glad that she decided to move on. Once she realizes she can easily fly into it game over for my little garden.
On my post from yesterday, I mentioned how I have not cut the grass by the garden since last summer. You can see just how wild the grass and bushes have gotten.

A polite way of saying SHIT!!!
A gopher (or ground hog) that I have named Mr. Gerald Goph-hog has been visiting my garden off and on for about a week. He has taken little nibbles out of my sunflowers, strawberries, carrots and peas.
Formerly a Mammoth Sunflower Carrots missing their tops
It has been my intention to make a gate at the entryway since I made the garden but due to work schedules and other projects I never got around to it.
After seeing that Mr. Gerald Goph-hog is getting a bit more brazen I made a point to make the gate this week before Mr. Gerald Goph-hog had a chance to inform his family of the new open garden restaurant in the neighborhood.
When I went out to check the garden I see all of my peas down on the ground with no pea pods on them. I was TOO LATE!! He must have told the family this morning. Out of 12 plants only 2 remain. I was able to save 3, yes only 3, pea pods.
They are all down! Destroyed!
All that remains of the pea pods This is what we have to eat…lol
So today I took all of the left over wood I had and old door that my mother had and I finally made my gate. It still needs to be painted. I left the side post long so that I an put a hanging plant on it in the near future.

The lesson I learned….Don’t put off til tomorrow what you can do today.

Something New
While browsing Facebook I came across this neat DIY project, then I checked it out on YouTube. In short you pouring drops of nail polish into a plastic bowl that is 3/4 full of warm water and gently but quickly swirling the polish around to create a design.
My first 5 attempts did not come out to well but I went back out to a thrift store and bought some more white ceramic mugs and tried again. This time they came out better but I still need a bit of practice in the design stage.
I plan on using these as flower pots.
