Besides the leaves changing colors, cooler nights, and birds starting to fly south for warmer weather, you know that autumn is fast approaching by the display of Mums.

A Change is Coming

Fall is fast approaching. Here in the US fall officially starts on September 23.

Some of the leaves have started to change already.

I do LOVE the color changes with the leaves that the fall season brings, but I don’t like that it represents winter is not to far away.

Never Give UP!

Even in this chilly late fall (almost winter) weather I still have a single flower that is refusing to give up.  Todays temps were a high of 62F and tomorrow is looking like it will be around 68F.  I am sure that the flower is a bit confused as to what season it actually is.  Hopefully the flower, and warmer weather,  will last a bit longer.

It’s not this time of year without the falling pinecones.  The shape of a pinecone has always reminded me of christmas. As a child in elementary school we would decorate them like Christmas trees to hang as ornaments on the real tree.

New ventures coming

I got the word on Thursday that I am being laid off on March 31, 2017 just 131 days away and counting down.  In total nearly 1400 people are losing their jobs over an 14 month period.  I am part of the 2nd group to leave.  I knew it was possible since the company will not be servicing mortgage loans for a certain type of client any longer but I was hoping that I was in the 50% that was going to stay till the end or I chose otherwise.  They will be holding job fairs and helping us with updating our resumes, so hopefully I won’t be jobless come April 1st.

Staying positive and making light of the situation for now is how me and a few others are dealing with it.  One of the things that we are going to do is have a going away party of us and have some battery operated candles and as we leave someone will turn off our candle.  Kinda like the show Survivor.

 

This is Lake Worth. As a kid my mother would take us here to go swimming back in the early 70’s. It is now closed but I still have some good memories.

Eminent Domain

Here in the United States we have a thing called Eminent Domain, which means that the local, state, or federal government can take a portion or all of your property if they want/need it. Usually they will give you market value for your property but that usually is not enough.

Looking at this leaf it appears that nature also exercises Eminent Domain.

Is it really fall?

Some of you may have a couple of my earlier post when I was dreading the fall weather since it will start to get cold.  Well the weather here in NJ is anything but fall like.  Today we had temperatures in the 80’s and tomorrow we may even break the record if it reaches 86 degrees.

I haven’t taken many pictures at my workplace oasis in a while so since the weather was so nice I decided to take a few pictures.
