It Has Begun

As some of you may recall, I like to do DIY projects.

Last year I built a deck with 4 post attached with future plans to but a pergola on it.  Well the time has come, it now has a top.

Built July 2019
It still needs some more slats added to it…but its a pergula!

This was done Saturday.

While the guys were working on the deck I was busy making an outdoor sofa.

That’s my sister-in-law making use of the sofa already.

I learned several things. The most important ones are that I can do anything I set my mind too and that I can not cut straight lines with a hand saw. So I was in need of a new toy….

I am hoping to break this in today. Got a bit of reading to do first on proper usage…. then look out!😀

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Wow, it all looks fantastic. My wife is the handy one between us, so I stand back and earnestly admire the talent. 🙂

  3. You are very good at that Robin. The pergola looks fab. (Now you be veeeery careful with that saw. Especially with kids around. I remember summers and summers working and restoring our house in Normandy, and plenty of accidents. Cut my hand with a saw amongst other things. Still have the scar.)
    Stay safe.
(Love your garden. All those trees… and the woods behind.)

    • Yes I am careful and i make sure it is unplugged when i am not near it… so hopefully no accidents. So far the only accodent i had was hammering my finger. That HURT!

      I am surrounded by trees.

      • Hammers do hurt. Another thing I learnt with my father: always hold your hammer at the very end of the wood. Never close to the metal. Paradoxically, with a little training you have more precision…
Enjoy your trees. So much peace they bring.
