My Other Hobby
Now that the gardening season is almost over I have started making candles in my basement kitchen again.
Candle making is not as easy as I initially thought when I started this about a year and a half ago.
There are so many factors involved like type of wax, fragrance brand, wick size, and various temperatures per different wax type, just to list a few things.
My goal is to make enough great scented candles to sell along with my luffa sponges and birdhouse gourds.
I have a few different scents created and now I am looking for testers so I can see how the scents work.
Thanks for visiting!

Looks like fun. You might want to listen to “I’m Blue Da Ba De Da Ba Di” by Eiffel 65 while working on those candles.

I’ll give it a listen. It can be fun and at times a little frustrating when it does not smell like I want.

Brings back memories for me…my mom used to use molds to make candles. She did two odd ones i remember – ice cube candles and fantasy candles. She really liked to make them.

Lol yes I try to keep my hands (and mind) busy. I have started soap making now too.

My wife’s a chemist. She says soap is relatively easy to do. But I’ve never seen her make any. 😉

Yes it is fairly easy to do.. just gotta get over the fear of using lye fear. Making sure all is right with the recipe. Right now I am only using recipes from proven sites and books.

Do. Plus the usual safety precautions. Goggles, gloves, apron. 🙂
