Tightly Rolled
I cleaned out the weeds in the raised garden bed that was suppose to have cabbage in it but…. the worms, rodents or something ate them all down to the stem. So it became a great place for weeds to grow.
After I finished this particular area I find these two worms all nicely rolled up.
I have not been able to find out what types of caterpillars these are or what they will turn into… butterfly or moth. If you know please let me know.
Thanks for visiting.

I believe the top worm is a called a ‘grub worm’. Not sure if the smaller one is but maybe a younger one? Anyway, they turn into Japanese Beetles, or sometimes called June Beetles, and yes they eat crops & vegetation.
I used to catch these worms when I was a kid,..until one bit me! 🙂

Thank you for the information. If one bit me I would not mess with them again either.

Your garden must be a constant source of amazement. For you and the kids.

Oh it is. There is always something new there. Those discoveries are just as fun as watching the food grow and ultimately end up on my table.

That is the best part. On the table.

On the table is the best but second is learning how to make hot sauce and spaghetti sauce from scratch.

An additional pleasure indeed. At home we tend to make our own sauces. When in doubt today’s internet is a great help. Bon appétit Robin.

Thanks Brian. Google and YouTube have been a constant friend during my gardening journey.
