A Blossoming Country Girl

I have always love planting flowers, so this year I decided to plant some vegetables. I find the process very calming and relaxing. The time from planning to executing my plan keeps my mind focused and free of stress.

Everything being planted I started from seeds. Every open space in my kitchen is covered with all sorts of containers. My daughter can’t wait for everything to be planted so she can have the kitchen back.

Carrots. cabbage, peas, string beans, luffa gourds, watermelon, sunflowers & corn

Everything that was planted has not sprouted but more has sprouted then I expected.

Now I must begin to prepare the outside for several raised garden beds.

Before…..

After….

Today I was determined to get my to get my peas in the ground….so I had to finish.

I made a gate (not pictured), rearranged the beds, made a trellis and finally one garden bed is finished and filled with 2 mammoth sunflowers and my peas! There is still much to do but it feels really good and today was a GREAT DAY!

Finally……

One down 3 to go

By time I finished it was getting dark and the insects started making music. I imagined a finished garden, sitting out here relaxing in the evening after “working the fields” listening to the song of the evening with a nice glass of Stella Rosa wine.

Hope you like tonight’s song selection…

As always thank you for visiting!

  1. Wow. Great day indeed. It is always a unique sensation to eat something from one’s own garden. (Never had one. My grandfather did. best carrot I ever ate…)
We also ha cherries, loads of them in the old house in Normandy. We’d harvest them in the summer, then put them in jars with white alcohol, gin or something like that. Lasted all winter. 🙂
