Meet Mr. Theodore Oliver Alexander Donovan, III

Meet Mr. Theodore Oliver Alexander Donovan, III aka TOAD who lives under my steps.  In a previous post, Spare Room, I let you all know that Toads/Frogs live under my steps.  Well as you clearly see by Theodore, I still have not fixed the steps.  There is a plan in motion to fix them this summer.

A Patriotic Turkey

The other day as I pulled into my yard I saw 3 female turkeys and this big old male strutting through my yard.  The females were harder to capture as the kept darting off towards the woods every step I took in their direction them.  But this big old Tom Turkey took his sweet time.  Although he could hear me walking towards him he never moved faster, he just kept showing off his tail feathers and moving with purpose (so it seemed) towards the woods.  His face and neck were red, white and blue hence why I call him a Patriotic Turkey.

Today is Memorial Day here in the USA and I thought it fitting to share my Patriotic Turkey.

Flower of the Day

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them”

by Henri Matisse

Photographing any type of flower equals happiness to me.  I love the smell of their fragrance, the feel of their petals, and of course their color.  It all has a calming effect on me by allowing me to get lost in their beauty.

No Vacancy

I recently had some trees cut down and to my surprise there was a nice size hole in my roof.  This area has been covered by a tree since I moved into this house 2 years ago.

I notice that I have tenants squatting there that I did not know I had.  Now the new issue is how to get them out without spending a bunch of money.

Now that the house is officially and legally mine I and begin some of the long over due repairs and upgrades to the property and house.  I have a long ‘Honey do” list but no “Honey’ at this time.

Flower of the Day

“There are two great days in a person’s life – the day we are born and the day we discover why.”

~ William Barclay

I believe one of the reasons why I was born was to be a mother and a photographer.  I think there is more to the photography part that I am yet to discover.

Have you discovered why you were born? If not too personal, please share.

Fairies all around us

These are not actually fairies but termites. Before they settled down on this tree stump, they were fluttering all around looking faries…..sometimes my imagination can be very vivid for 52 year “young” woman.

Termites can reek much havoc on a home by causing hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in damage to the structure of the property.

In spite of this, I will still consider them fairies for this post.

Smile

Today I had a few trees cut down and in the pile I find 2 unlikely images, a heart and what looks like 2 eyes (to me anyway) on the side of a log. When I put them together it looks like it is smiling.

I will be getting a straw hat for it and placing it in my flowerbed somewhere.
