Tent Caterpillar

As a child I used to see a lot of cocoons in trees, but not so much anymore.  Is that a good or bad thing?  Who knows but I suspect it is not good as this may mean that there are fewer and fewer of these worms.

And There He Is!!

Friday my grandson, Arai, had his Pre-K graduation ceremony (due to his birthday he will be doing another year of Pre-K).  Although it was a small service visibility was limited, since the graduates were short.  However, I was able to capture his GREAT smile between a couple of out of focused parents.

A Little Ripple

This tulip was originally posted about 2 months ago for Monochrome Monday.  I decided to play a little in Photoshop on the original image to see what it can become.

I followed a YouTube video, Best Technique to Create Realistic Water Reflections to create a reflection and a little ripple to resemble water.  It is not perfect but it came out ok.

The Elusive Cardinal

There are a few cardinals that come to the bird feeder from time to time for a quick feast.  It seems as if they know I want to photograph them since they fly away as soon as I pull out the camera.  It is very difficult to get a photo that is in focused.

The thief is back..and he has a partner!

A couple of weeks ago I photographed a squirrel “stealing” bird seed that I put out.  Now yesterday I finally catch him again and this time there are two of them.  The one on the feeder takes some seeds and makes sure to drop some for his partner in crime below.  As a result my flowers are being trampled and breaking off.

On Instagram it was suggested that I get a new feeder with a spinner on it to keep the squirrels away.  Well Wal-Mart did not have any when I went so I go something that I thought would work.  It did not

 

 

I will be on the hunt for a bird feeder with a spinner on it.  Get ready for some funny videos.

Field Station: Dinosaurs

I first heard about Field Station Dinosaurs about 2 years ago.  So today my family and I decided to go and check it out.  The reviews online were so so but I took the chance any way.  I am glad that I was not influenced by some of the reviews.

Field Sation: Dinosaurs is a good place to visit and perfect for children 8 and under and adults who are still children at heart.  We had a GREAT time.

Here are just a few pictures.

Scientists believe that the horn on the Parasaurolophus made noise so that it could alert others of danger, mating, and possibly when it was in pain.

 

There are things for the kids to do for additional fun, some cost extra money and others do not.
