  1. i actually prefer the B&W, the color is somehow a little distracting

  2. Gee, they’re both good. I think the B&W has a richer overall texture, but I also like the color composition of the other. Tough call. 🙂

  4. Love both of them. Maybe the b&w slightly better…

  6. There is more detail in the B&W but I am a nature lover and I love the color….

  7. I definitely cannot choose between the two. I love glowing greens, but the details in the black and white are exquisite. I liked studying the photographs and drawing comparisons between the two. Great post!

  9. The BW without question for me. Texture and contrast more striking and makes the picture “interesting.” The leaf here in BW reminds of pictures of elderly people close up in BW where we are drawn to the textures and lines in their skin. In colour we’d be talking more about blush of their skin and if they’re healthy– remove the colour and we talk about their lives.

  10. You did well as usual! 🙂
I insist, I prefer colour for nature. I remember the first photos I took in Africa as a child, (I was only granted B&W by my parents to try teeth on, and it was cheaper) black & white is very difficult to get proper contrasts in the “wilderness”. Unless you get a subject very close with a very defined background. Clear. Sky. 🙂

  11. Bravo Robin. You have the heart of a poet. Both photos are dramatic but I prefer the monochrome black and white. In the B&W photo the shadowy reflection of the leaf turns itself into an artistic spectre separate but still a part of the real leaf. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy the day.

  12. The B&W photo is my favorite, although I like the color one also. The color one actually looks “colorized” to me! (Colorize was the technique used in old photos and movies, where color was added to the image later). But the B&W one, without the distraction of color, brings out the contrast and thus the details of the leaf. The edge of the leaf appears to have an outline, which is more prominent in the B&W photo.
