Wild Berries

Went to a Park yesterday in Sewell NJ for a very brief walk before I had to get the brakes on my new car fixed (story for another day).

There were several large patches of wild flowers.  This particular patch had some berries.

Some of the berries  look like miniature green pumpkins.  What do you think?

  1. My grandmother called this bush – a weed that grows back each year – a Pope Bush or Poke bush. But who really knows what it’s called. I saw a red-wing blackbird eating the berries off the bush in my backyard the other day! Was too far away to get a photo. Bummer.

  2. Poke berry. They are interesting to look at, develop into gigantic plants, but are poisonous. I knocked one over today on the property border. It must have been 6′ tall and as wide so covered in berries it was falling to the ground.
