Almost at the end

I took a walk at one of the local lakes saturday and you  can see that summer is almost over.  It seems that Mother Nature is trying to rush the next season.  Although the temperature reached 91 degrees with full humidity today I could feel and see that there is a change coming.  Autumnal equinox will officially begin on September 23.

I do enjoy the fall/autumn season but I am not ready for summer to end.  Due to work schedules and life in general I did not get to explore all that I wanted to.  My to do list just keeps growing.

What season is it where you live?

Wanna Be Happy?

Driving into work today I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show and I had the pleasure of being introduced to this new song by Kirk Franklin, Wanna Be Happy.

This song hit a nerve within me in a good way.  It told me to get out of my way and let God do his thing. This song touched me.

Please hit play and I hope you enjoy Wanna Be Happy as well.

Up for a Game of H.O.R.S.E.?

Figured that I would step away from all the vacation pictures for now and capture something different.

My employer provides a lot of extra things for its employees to use to unwind after a mentally stressful day.  We have access to pool tables, foosball, gym, walking trails, tennis and basketball courts.  At any given time you can usually find people busy doing something to take their mind off the stress of the day.

For the past few days I have driven past the basketball courts and saw 2 balls that have been left.  Today I decided to pull out the cell phone and capture a few shots.

This brought back memories of being a child playing HORSE with my brothers and the other boys on the street.  I was pretty good!  I felt like I was the only girl on the street since the other 2 girls were much older and rarely played or even came outside.  So if I wanted to play I had to play with the boys.  I was am a true Tomboy.

What was one of your favorite games to play as a child?

Getting out the way.

My niece Caila is a sweetheart and she loves the water.  She always wanted to go swimming.  I was able to get her to bypass swimming a couple of times to go and discover some new things with me.

Bear Crossing

On August 20th Caila and I went on a photo adventure to places that I usually go to take pictures so that I can see the changes from one year to the next (more post to come).  While out we went to the National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center in the town of Roanoke.  While speaking with the staff they suggested that we go visit the wild bears.  Now who would have thought that when you are vacationing at the shore you can also see some bears?!

So off we went!!

We ventured off the island into the “mainland” of North Carolina to see some wild bears.  The bears were only about 30-45 minutes from where we were staying.  There are even road signs up in this area stating that this is a “Bear Crossing”.

We were both nervous and excited to get to see some bears that were actually in the wild and not at the zoo.

Traveling off of the main road and to a dirt road we found our first bear.  This little cub was only about 200 yards from the main road.

We were blessed to see 3 different bear cubs, wish we could have seen an adult bear.  Although I have a feeling momma bear was not too far behind the cubs.

Although the pictures aren’t the greatest I did capture my first bear!

At times like this I really wish I had a lens that is bigger than 200mm lens.

WP Photo Challenge: Today was a Good Day (2)

Well vacation is over and I am back home.  Why do we always feel that we need a vacation from the vacation?

This was a very relaxing week away from the hustle of my normal routine.

Friday was our last full day in Outer Banks so I went to Jennette’s Pier so I could get some pics and my niece could get in a last day of swimming.

I have always enjoyed watching how the waves come crashing in on the columns of the pier.

I managed to get up early again and catch the beginning of another beautiful day.   The sun decided to hide behind the clouds today so no pictures of the sun kissing the ocean but I did get some pictures of the breath-taking colors in the sky.

Since the sun was not cooperating like i wanted it too, I was able to make a short clip of the sand Crabs throwing sand out of their holes

Please forgive the shaking I forgot to bring my tripod.
