A Snowy Day
Down here in the southern NJ area we received another bit of snow, about 3-4 inches. In my part of southern NJ I believe we have received around 12 inches this season. Much less then last years total snow fall of just under 50 inches.
It is nothing like the snow that the New England area has received. So far this year they have received over 75 inches of snow and the season is not even over yet. Check out NewEnglandGardenAndThread to see all the pictures of the snow fall(s) they have received.
Back down here in NJ I took some pictures of a few items that stood out to me on this snowy day.
Where do the birds go?
The snow was powdery so it did not last on most of the trees for too long.
Have you ever wondered where the birds go after the babies leave the nest? Where do they sleep in the winter? Just a thought.
Snow covered stream
This snow-covered stream by my job looks like a peaceful path to take and explore the woods. However don’t be fooled there is water under there.
Lunchtime View
Usually on my lunch break I sit by the lake/pond that is by my office and just relax. Even though it is winter I still like to look at the (snow-covered) lake.

I am glad you haven’t gotten as much snow as we have to your northeast. 🙂 Did you see the cartoon by Dave Granlund where he showed New England trucking all the snow to NJ? I guess we have to try and maintain our sense of humor through this wicked winter. Thank you for the mention and may that groundhog get lost and not resurface. 🙂

I have not seen the cartoons from Dave Granlund will have to check him out. You have to find a way to enjoy it or it could make for a few more miserable weeks. That snow is not going any where any time soon.
I am always ready for winter to be over and I how it happens really soon.

Yes, I do wonder where the birds go to sleep at night, especially in this terribly frigid weather. Your winter scenes are lovely.

Thank you! I am glad I am not the only one that has wondered that. They make a nest to lay eggs and raise their young and then they leave. Why do they only need a nest for the young?

When I look at your snow I feel nostalgic for the snow I loved playing in back in England. It doesn’t snow in Sydney. In fact, we’re about to feel a backlash from 2 cyclones (hurricanes) that hit northern Australia today. We already have some of the storm-tossed seas on the coast and the braver (or foolhardy) surfers will be looking for some dangerous surf to test their skills. We already have heavy humidity, which everybody hates. Summer here ends on 28 February, but the hot weather usually continues for 3-4 weeks more. A little snow wouldn’t go astray.

I do not like snow. I think the only time we should see snow is on christmas day or in the mountains for skiing. I will take the humidity over freezing weather and wind chills anytime. Our wind chill the last couple of days has been averaging in the low single digits even into the negative numbers.
I understand the thrill of surfboarding but not when the weather is dangerous.
